Here’s another offering from 405 Brewing that I picked up at their 04/05 celebration. It’s Blueprint, a foreign export stout and a brew that I have not had before from 405. Apparently named Blueprint because it was originally brewed while listening to Jay-Z. 99 problems but a pitch ain’t one?
Company: 405 Brewing Company
Location: Norman, OK
ABV: 7.7%
Style/Description: Foreign Export Stout
Price: $5 for a draft, $8 for a 32oz growler
Appearance: Almost opaque dark brown pout, light tan head and slight lace.
Nose: Sweet roasty aroma, with light chocolate and coffee.
Taste: Very nice roasted malt flavor, with mild espresso and dark chocolate. Lightly bitter, and with slightly buttery, biscuity flavors. Light body and crisp carbonation.
Finish: Clean dry finish, hints of chocolate remain.
Overall: Another enjoyable beer from the 405 gentlemen. I was intrigued and glad to see a Foreign Export stout, as I feel that medium alcohol stouts often get lost in the craft beer world. This one was pack a bit of a punch for the style, however, at 7.7%. It’s taproom only, so if you needed another reason to buy growlers in Norman, here it is.
