1792 is one of my favorite Bourbons, it’s definitely one of my go to Bourbons. When in doubt, drink 1792 and you’ll be happy. (Remember that time I was at a Whiskey Catfish event, and there was a blind sample game where whoever guessed the blind sample won a bottle of it? Yeah, it was 1792 Full Proof, and I still have no idea how I nailed that, not gonna lie.) But, I do love 1792, which is the point of this whole paragraph… onto more important things, and I’ll stop humble bragging.

Central Liquor Company picked this full proof barrel for a reason, so let’s taste it, and see how I feel about it.
Company: Sazerac
Distillery: Barton 1792 Distillery
Location: Bardstown, KY
Mash Bill: Standard 1792 mash hill, which is not stated other than being a “high rye” recipe.
Age: NAS
ABV: 62.5% (125 proof)
Release: Limited
Price: $45
Color: Amber girl
Nose: This has a yeasty bread smell along with vanilla, almond, some sort of spice smell like…oregano? tarragon? weird, I can’t quite pinpoint it. Let’s see what Kris thinks…he says thyme or sage. Ha! Oh, and I get bubblegum, this is an interesting nose.
Taste: Subtler than expected, super sugary sweet, leather, chocolate caramel candy, a bit of lemon, and rounds out hot.
Finish: Hot finish with a slight throat coating and warmth. A bit dry with sugary sweetness that lingers.
Overall: This is surprisingly easy to drink, I was expecting it to knock my socks off at 125 proof, and for me to breath fire. Despite the sweetness and its easy start it is still finishes hot, so keep that in mind when consuming. A solid pick.
